Privacy Patio Screening

Privacy screening works on the same principle as sunglasses or one-way mirrors - the side with more light can see through easier. From inside your patio looking out (lighter area looking toward brighter outdoor area), you maintain 85-90% visibility with only slight darkening effect. From outside looking in (brighter area looking toward shaded patio interior), the tighter mesh weave blocks 70-80% of visibility, making it difficult to see activities and details inside. The effect is strongest during daytime. Evening visibility is reduced but not eliminated when interior is lit - privacy lighting strategies can enhance evening privacy.

Strategic installation on specific panels is most cost-effective. Common approaches: Neighbor-facing walls only - install privacy screening on sides facing close neighbors, standard screening elsewhere (saves 40-60% vs full patio). Street-facing panels - privacy screening on front/street side for curb-side privacy, open visibility toward backyard/pool. Partial height - privacy screening on lower 4-6 feet for seating area privacy, standard screening above for more open feel. Pool changing areas - privacy panels creating secluded changing zones.
